Basin taps for the bathroom are usually smaller than those designed for the kitchen. They can be wall or basin mounted and come in a wealth of designs from sleek, minimalist or geometric ones to traditional items mimicking the taps of the Victorian and Edwardian eras. Bathroom basin mixers produce water flow through a single spout using just one hole in the basin. They can be operated by two handles or by a single lever. Monobloc basin mixers are elegant and just right for the modern bathroom décor. They deliver water through a single spout with a divided flow between hot and cold water. These are also known as dual flow taps, as opposed to single flow items that mix the hot and cold water inside the body of the tap, and so need single check valves fitted to each inlet. A check valve, also known as a non-return valve, limits the flow of water to just one direction. Single flow taps are known as mono mixers.
