Basin Taps – Modern Or Traditional?

Wednesday March 17, 2010

One thing you will immediately notice when you start shopping for some new basin taps is the huge range you have available to choose from. For example you could literally have upwards of hundreds of different designs, styles, price points and finishes to look at. It is small wonder such a purchase can take a while to decide on.

But there is one way you can help narrow down your choices right from the very start. This can be done by thinking about whether you want to go for modern or traditionally styled taps. There are still plenty in either style but if you know which ones you would like the most you can narrow down all the ones you will need to look at.

Traditional basin taps look very good in older houses, and also in houses where you have older designs and items in place. If you are unsure about what you want, take a look round your home at the various styles you already have there. You will normally find they will give you some clues to what you could do.

Modern taps are very different indeed. You will often find they have cutting edge designs and they can almost be an artwork in themselves. Some of them are quite boxy looking and have very angular designs, rather than being rounded and more traditional looking. If you want to make a statement with your taps, go for the modern look and you won’t be disappointed.

You also need to think about whether you want a tap that is easy to use though. Some people with weaker hands may prefer a more traditional tap. A tap with an angular and squared off top could be harder to turn if you have trouble turning things for any reason. It’s always a good idea to visit a showroom to try out some basic tap designs before you buy, even though buying online can often produce lower prices and more choice. This will at least give you a better idea of what to expect when you buy in this way.

So you see there are plenty of advantages to finding some basin taps that fit in with either traditional or modern styling. You just need to consider what type you would like the most before you go and buy them. A few minutes spent thinking about that now will pay dividends later on.
